Does Satan have authority over us? No, but problems arise when we submit to false authority.

If we are Christians, are lives are hidden in Christ and we have eternal life with Him.  Yet, there is still a battle going on and the battle is for our soul. Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions.  How we think and how we feel has a huge impact on our will.

Take for instance a person that is continually bullied or abused,  slowly their self-worth and self-esteem can become so low, they no longer have the will to live. Other people will often try to put themselves in the place of our judge and jury.  They freely accuse and condemn.

This is how the enemy works. He came to steal, kill, and destroy our lives.  But we remember that Jesus came that we may have life and have it to the full. .

When we submit ourselves to other people (false authority) we are allowing others to dictate our worth, our identity and our truth.   Another problem is if we are submitting to false authority, we won’t be walking in our own God-given authority. Remembering we all have one Father and one teacher as seen in Matt 23:9-10

We all know “the Truth sets us free”  but we have to know the truth about who we are and even more important who we are in Him. We also have to stop submitting to the lies.

We are to submit to God/truth and resist the devil/lies and he will flee from us.  Satan will flee from us because he can no longer hold us down and control us with his lies. He no longer has the power to effect us.  Also, because we have made the choice to use our God-given authority to “cast him out.” He is toxic and so are his flying monkeys.

Here are some great verse about our authority in Christ.

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” Romans 16:20

Now judgment is upon this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out. 32And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”…John 12:31-32

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death Rev 12:11

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. Rev 12:1

And this is who we are..

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God 2 Cor. 5:21

Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:17

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father John 14:12

We have but one Father, one Judge and only one who has true authority over us. When we choose Christ, we now belong to Him and Him to us!

If we would feed our spirits on truth, we wouldn’t spend so much time trying to feed our egos on lies. “

Our worth and life is in and with Jesus Christ.  Money and power are often mixed up with value and self-worth; And too many people try to matter by feeding their ego’s off others.  This is not Christianity or following Christ’s example.

We don’t have to beg for scrapes when our “Father has prepared a table before us?”

“Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it” Matt. 10:39

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35

Cain

When God corrected Cain because of his poor offering, Cain had the opportunity to do what was right. God told him, “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Gen 4:1
Yet,  Cain gave into sin. He kill his brother Abel out of  his resentment and jealousy.
Note there are lots of ways to kill a person without causing physical death.  When we sin against someone, we are in essences stealing/destroying parts their life. Example, abusive parents.
What was the results of Cain’s actions? 4 things
 
1. He was cursed by the ground. No longer would it produce for “fruit” for him. He was no longer fruitful.
 
2. He was driven from his “home” and became a “restless wonderer”. In others words He was forever lost and without peace.
 
3. God’s presence was now hidden from him. He was separated from God no longer able to “see” Him.
 
4. Finally, Cain was “marked” by God, so no one would kill him. This served several purposes.
 
Because of the marked he was set apart/different from others. The mark also served as an example to others.  The mark  also told others that no one should kill or condemn him. This is because final judgement can only come from God.
 
Notice that God’s people are described as, “radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” Eph 5:27 Yet,  Cain is “marked” due to his sin.
 
There is an obvious correlations between those who allow sin to “rule over them”  and the life Cain.  Living for the flesh will cause us to be fruitless, lost/wonderer, without peace, unable to see God, seperated from others, and  eventually judged by God.
 
After Cain killed his brother Abel, God declared to Cain, “Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth” (Genesis 4:11-12). In response, Cain lamented, “My punishment is more than I can bear. Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me” (Genesis 4:13-14). God responded, “Not so; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him” (Genesis 4:15-16).

When dealing with Narcissistic abuse, one can end up feeling hurt, confused, rejected, and just plain dumb founded.  And if these saImage result for picture of twilight zone pigsme people abusing you are family members or members of you Church, the hurt can be devastating.  After all, these are people we love and they claim to love us.

But the Truth sets us free.

I love the Twilight Zone episode where a bunch of doctors and nurses are working on this attractive woman.  Through the episode we are given the sense she has something seriously wrong with her and they are trying to “fix” her making her like them.  They only show the woman’s face through the episode. Then at the very end, the faces of the doctors and nurse are revealed. Everyone else has a pig snout face. Well now we know why she was treated different, rejected, and afraid. She wasn’t like them.

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:19

It is not what is wrong with us that the world hates us, but because of what is right with us. (JESUS)  It is the same reason Cain killed Abel, because Abel had chosen what was right. It is the same reason the Bible tells us, “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.”

And it is the same reason we are told, ..”do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” Matt 7:6

Save your wisdom, love, and compassion for those who value it and value you.

Eagles and Chickens

In the Stanford prison experiment, how people dressed and their positions as guard or prisoner had a huge influence on their ego and self-worth. It is an interesting experiment that had to be stopped because the guards became extremely abusive and some of the students/prisoners started to slip into states of psychosis.
My point being, how you see yourself has a huge influence on our ego and sense of Self worth. It also influences how we treat others and how we allow others to treat us.

The bible makes references to both eagles and chickens. There are chickens living in sin and pride who strut around believing themselves to be eagles and eagles living in shame and fear believing they are chickens.


If you see yourself the way God sees you, in Christ,  your actions will line up with your vision. Eagles are graceful, powerful, and free. They are carried on the wind (Holy Spirit) and rise above

“YOU HAVE MY WORD!”

Last night somewhere between awake and asleep, I went before God questioning and asking for help to understand to my continued trials and tribulations.  Then, I heard  His powerful, audible voice declare, “You have My Word!.”   Now I am fully awake, a little startled, and excited all at the same time.  Love God encounters.

After a little reflection this morning, I realized these three things about God’s Word..

    1. God said it, He meant it, and It is the Truth. His Word is His promises to us.
    2. His Word holds the answer to any question, any problem, and reveals to us  who God is.
    3. God has given us Jesus/the Word who is with us at all times. Our All in All.

Let me get this straight…”We are to bless others, so we can be blessed?”

 So you are telling me ….Jesus set people free, healed the sick, and blessed everyone He touched, so He could be blessed?

If this is the case,  we are really only giving to get.  There is no love exchanged. Our motives are purely self-seeking.

People who love God and love people have a heart and a desire to be used by God. We hope to be a blessing knowing, that we are truly blessed, if it is our hands or words God works through to touch a heart and change the world for Christ.

It is when we bless others with a right heart (from a place of love) that God can use us to truly make a difference in another person’s life. This is the blessing being spoken about in Acts 20:34-35

“34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have ministered to my own needs and those of my companions. 35 In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Our motivation is pure love/Jesus.

 

 

How can some people be so cruel and yet live guilt free? Like this…

  1. By dehumanizing another person in your own mind, you can lessen them into little more than an object. Thus seeing them as unworthy or deserving of love or respect. (objectification)
  2. Dehumanize means: to deprive of positive human qualities.
  3. In other words, We try to justify our negative actions/sins towards others by convincing ourselves they, for whatever reason, deserve it.
  4. Example:
    Believing people who are weak or can’t defend themselves deserve being bullied. . Calling women whores to justify rape. Beating your wife or children because they made you mad. Stealing money from your job believing you should be paid more. Thinking it is ok to be mistreat others based on things like social statues, education, color, sexual orientation, weight, religion, or income.
  5. The Pharisees attempted to dehumanize Jesus, in the eyes of the people, by accusing Him of being demon possessed and a Sumerian. (Sumerian’s were people who believed that, in the beginning, human-like gods ruled over Earth.)
  6. The truth is we value the people that we love not devalue them. This includes ourselves.
  7. “We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.” 1 John 4:19-20
  8. “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

How does the blood of Jesus make atonement for our sins?

Because “life is in the Blood.”

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life..” Leviticus 17:11

Atonement means: Amends or reparation made for an injury or wrong.

God is the creator. He created all life. He is life itself/breath.

Why is life in the blood?

“Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Gen.7:2

Blood and Oxygen – How It Works

“You breathe air in through your nose and mouth. It makes its way into your lungs and dissolves in the water lining of the alveoli. Oxygen then clings to red blood cells as they pass through the alveolar capillaries – now the oxygen is in the blood.”

Sinning -living by the flesh

When we sin, by disobeying God, we are taking/stealing from life.. It doesn’t matter who we are sinning against; ourselves, others, or directly towards God.. Since God is the giver of life, we are sinning against Him.

Example: A person steals a car. The person who stole the car has attempted to added to their life by taking from someone else’s life. The victim was given life by God, when the thief steals from that person’s life they have also stolen from God.

Adam and Eve sinned when they ate from the tree of knowledge. It is the one thing God did not freely give to them.  Now, atonement to God for sin needed to be made.

Atonement for Sin

The pure blood of Jesus, full of life, makes atonement (amends) by returning or paying back to God what is Gods.

27  Then He took the cup, gave thanks and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:28

A Covenant is God’s promises to us. It is by God’s Grace, through faith in Jesus Christ we have been saved. We are redeemed (made acceptable) because it is through the blood/life of Jesus that atonement (amends) with God has been made. Jesus bore our sins that we may share in His righteousness.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them.” 2 Cor. 5:18

Bonus: What about my life and those who have sinned against me?

In Him we are overcomers. He restores our souls and all that was taken from us. And it is by His stripes we find our healing. For the kingdom of Heaven is upon us that we may have righteousness, peace, and Joy in the Holy Spirit.

We claim God’s promises. I want everything Jesus suffered, die, and rose again to give me.

Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. John 16:33

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
